About VUB

Veterans Upward Bound of Northern Arizona is a federal TRiO program, funded through the U.S. Department of Education.  Our program is designed to support veterans that desire to continue their post-secondary education.  To accomplish this, VUB staff will help each eligible veteran:

  • Assess current academic skills
  • Assess and plan educational and career goals
  • Apply for GI Bill, federal financial aid, and admissions to the educational program of their choice
  • Enroll in free VUB pre-college refresher courses in math, writing, computers, science, language
  • Enroll in free veteran-only Veteran Student Success course to help with study skills, time management, goal setting, resources, and familiarity with college

Eligibility
for services is limited to veterans in the Northern Arizona region that have:

  • At least 180 days of active duty service, or were released due to medical (if less than 180 days), or reservists who served more than 30 days active duty after 9/11/01
  • Any discharge status other than dishonorable
  • Status of either a first-generation college student (neither parent has a college degree), or low-income (per federal guidelines)
